Chicken Tikka Salad Recipe


Chicken Tikka Salad Recipe by Chef Zarnak Sidhwa


  1. Boneless chicken – 1/2 kg
  2. Thick yogurt – 4 tbsp
  3. Red chilli paste – 1-1/2 tsp
  4. Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
  5. Almonds (blanched and roasted) – few
  6. Salt – to taste
  7. Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  8. Lemon juice of – 1/2 lemon
  9. Oil for grilling
  10. Spring onion bulb (sliced) – 1
  11. Fresh basil – 6-7 leaves
  12. Fresh mint – 15-20 leaves
  13. Iceberg – 4-5 leaves
  14. Lettuce – few leaves


For Dressing:

  1. Tomato juice – 1/3 cup
  2. Mustard paste – 2 tsp
  3. Balsamic vinegar – 1 tsp
  4. Salt – to taste


  • Take yogurt in a bowl add red chilli paste and ginger garlic paste.
  • Add salt, garam masala and lemon juice to the yogurt and mix well.
  • Add chicken pieces as well and set aside to marinate for 4 hours.
  • Heat oil, place marinated chicken pieces and grill till the chicken is fully cooked.
  • To make salad, mix spring onions with chopped basil leaves and mint leaves.
  • Tear lceberg and lettuce leaves and add to make dressing.
  • Put tomato juice in a bowl, add mustard paste balsamic vinegar, salt, olive oil and crushed
  • peppercorns and mix well.
  • Remove chicken tikka from heat and cut further in to smaller pieces.
  • Add dressing and some chicken pieces to the salad and toss well.
  • Transfer the salad to a serving plate.
  • Garnish with remaining chicken pieces and toasted almonds and serve immediately.
